Whether you’re a student seeking to deepen your practice or an aspiring yoga teacher who wants to share your unique gifts. The Personal Transformation 200Hr Yoga Teachers Training will both nurture and challenge you to become the best you in all aspects of your life.

Through a carefully crafted curriculum you will develop your unique teaching voice, one that speaks from your heart with confidence and understanding. Plus you’ll have a blast — laughter is good medicine! You’ll develop new friendships and lifelong connections too. commUNITY Yoga’s Personal Transformation is a 200hr Yoga Alliance Registered School.

WHAT SETS Personal Transformation APART?

Jen  knows from experience that delving deeper into yoga, whether to teach or simply for your own personal practice, requires training that will develop both your skills and your heart. The knowledge will be put it into a strong a sturdy pot (that’s you). Then the “pot” will be heated through the fiery discipline of practice and the alchemy of inner transformation will take place. Thus, the knowledge is transformed into wisdom. It is from this place of inner wisdom that Personal Transformation flows outward into the world.

This type of training demands an intimate setting where attention is up close and personal, and the relationship between trainer and trainee is one of love and support. It requires that close bonds and long-term friendships bloom among all involved. It demands that we laugh, as well as learn together! Jen and Nikki’s intention is to create a diverse, inclusive community of teachers, trainees, and students all mutually supporting each other. It is our intention that each individual shines and offers their own unique gifts to the community. We believe that when we decide to work together, we can change the world and our commUNITY.

This holistic and comprehensive 200-hour teacher training is an extraordinary opportunity to inform and give direction to both your practice and your life. Two different but associated groups are attracted to this training: dedicated students who wish to deepen their understanding of yoga and themselves, and those who hope to become outstanding yoga teachers.

This curriculum exceeds Yoga Alliance standards, and upon completion students may register at the RYT-200 level.

Throughout the the Personal Transformation 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training you will learn the most essential skills for teaching yoga, including: poses, alignment, assists, functional anatomy, speaking confidently from the heart, how to create a safe space, creative sequencing, an understanding of the Yoga Sutras by Pantanjali and much more. But you will also grow as a student. You will be encouraged, and at times required to look within to see what holding patterns need to be let go of. You will be fully supported as you reach outside of your box of self set limitations to explore the diversity of world and find your unique place within it.

My approach to learning emphasizes doing and practicing, lots of it! We practice power vinyasa which comes from the lineage of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. As with the lineage of any tradition, this lineage draws from diverse methodologies and philosophies. These lines of influence converge clearly in the teachings of the early Upanishads and blossom later in the subtle body practices of Tantra.

The internal forms of Ashtanga materialize through bandha, mudra and dristi together with deep ujjai breathing. These are the pinnacles of modern Tantric technique, brought to light in the broad clarifying context of Patanjali’s yoga philosophy and the non-dualism of the Upanishads. These philosophies throw the internal forms of Ashtanga Vinyasa into relief, exposing them as crystallizations of the meditative process.

Through my guidance you will see how your actions, no matter how big or small, can become a part of something much greater.

You will practice building fluency as a teacher, and work creatively to develop skills in developing memorable sequences, themes, and presentations. You will learn how to infuse your classes with wisdom gained through your own experiences.

Through this module based program, you will learn to teach and transform others and have your 200RYT Instructors Certificate recognized by Yoga Alliance, the governing body of our field.

“The path of awakening is not about becoming who you are. Rather it is about unbecoming who you are not.” Albert Schweitzer

I began practicing yoga in 2006, at the suggestion of my physician, following surgery and treatment for thyroid cancer. After my first class, I thought, “Oh, yoga, where have you been all my life?”

In 2009, I decided I wanted to teach yoga. I attended my first teacher training (in Austin), through a large international organization, and began teaching. I had the best of intentions to complete my 200 RYT, but life got in the way. Not to mention that all the trainings were expensive and required me to travel. So, I put the dream of attaining my 200 RYT on the back burner.

In early 2017, I met Jennifer Hathaway Dixon, who owns CommUNITY Yoga. I soon discovered that CommUNITY Yoga offers teacher training, and I realized that my dream could finally become a reality.
Teacher training at CommUNITY Yoga is local, it’s a great value compared to other programs, and (most importantly) certified by Yoga Alliance.

But there’s more to it. Teacher training at CommUNITY Yoga is a life-changing experience. Jennifer and Nikki provide a safe space to peel away the layers to arrive at a place of deep self-discovery. The camaraderie with my fellow trainees set the stage for lifetime friendships. The program is equally beneficial for the novice or experienced yoga teacher. Even of you don’t think you want to teach, it’s a great way to deepen your personal practice.

This program has enriched my life and made me a better yoga teacher. It took me nearly 10 years, but I finally achieved my dream!

I made lots of excuses. I don’t have enough money. I’m not ready yet. I don’t know all the poses. I can’t DO all of the poses. Take all those lousy excuses and bury them.

Yoga teacher training with Jennifer and Nikki was nothing I thought it would be. I was thinking long days of studying Sanskrit, anatomy, joints, and difficult poses. Which you do touch on these things, but it’s not what the whole training is about. Teacher training was everything I needed. It has made me not only a better yogi, but a better human. The books, the lectures, and practice, were full of inner-reflection, wisdom, laughter, tears, joy, and encouragement.

Because of this training, I have reconciled with my father, whom I previously had no relationship with. I’ve learned how to speak to myself. I’ve identified patterns of thinking that have kept me in my same mental and spiritual battles for years. The chains I never knew were there, were finally identified, and broken.

The depth of knowledge, love and wisdom that Jennifer and Nikki share is incredible. I recommend anyone who is in love with the yoga practice to go through this training. Even if you may not be interested in teaching yoga, it still is something that makes you a better person if you allow it.

This isn’t just a training. This is a revival. And I know this is what God laid out for me. This training has changed my life! Oh and as a side perk, I can also teach an hour and a half power yoga flow!
